A former member of the United States House of Representatives, Noem was elected South Dakota’s 33rd Governor and assumed office January 5, 2019 defeating her opponent with 62% of the vote while flipping 17 counties. Noem gained prominence during the Covid era refusing to lock down the state, chosing personal liberty and freedom instead. Noem is a Political Science graduate of South Dakota State University.
Noem is considered a leading Vice Presidential running mate for the Republican ticket in 2024. She was originally elected to the U.S. House in 2010 winning 48% of the vote.
